Scouting Event Before/After Checklist: Remember that this is only a guide. Each event may be a little bit different.

Before the Event:

  • Identify tour permit coordinator
  • Verify event location availability
  • Create online sign-up sheet on troop web site
  • Confirm with permit coordinator if permit is required
  • Reserve event location
  • Complete and submit tour permit; leave enough time for approval
  • Email event details to troop, including packing list
  • Collect event fees
  • Meal planning and shopping list
  • Verify equipment is working and have enough fuel and batteries
  • Verify there are enough adults and drivers
  • Email final details, packing list, depart and return times to troop
  • Print enough signup sheets for each driver
  • Shop for food
  • Give each car/driver a list of the other drivers' cellphones before leaving
  • Overnight Events: Medical forms for every scout

After The Trip:

  • Verify attendance and mark sign-up sheet as 'complete'
  • Get any requirements signed off
  • Finish collecting event fees
  • Thorns and roses
